Choosing the correct Laser Safety Glasses

When working out the most appropriate Laser Safety Glasses for your laser the first thing you need to know is your laser type or wavelength in nm. For example this could be an Nd:YAG laser with a wavelength of 1064nm. You also need to know the power of the laser which can be expressed in Watts or in Joules depending on if it is a pulsed laser or not. The next thing to know is if the laser safety glasses are required to fitover prescription glasses or if a modern style is preferred. The other thing to be aware of it that all laser safety glasses used in Australia must be certified to Australian Laser Safety Standards AS/NZS 2211.1:2004

Important: Australian laser safety standards AS/NZS 2211.3:2002 require L-Ratings to be clearly marked on the laser glasses. When choosing laser safety eyewear to be used within Australia make sure L ratings are marked on the glasses.

If you are unsure in any way about which laser safety glasses best suit your requirements please contact us and we will be only to happy to assist.

Choosing the most appropriate IPL Safety Glasses

The first thing to establish is if the IPL Safety Glasses are required for the operator or for the client. Client IPL Safety Glasses are either very dark IPL Glasses such as the LG-011ND, disposable blockout eyeshields such as the IPL-Disposables, or the complete blockout reuseable client type such as the IS-015 which can be used for both lasers or IPL. For the operator there three different types: Active Operator IPL glasses such as the IPL Lightspeed II glasses which are the top end glasses and provide the best visibility combined with excellent protection by means of a sensor and liquid crystal that darkens in lens then 0.25ms of the IPL flash. Then there are broadly two types of IPL Glasses with passive lenses (ie continuous shade levels) one type has a dark green lens and the other has a dark brown lens. Which one suits best depends on the sort of IPL system you are using and what you want to be able to see. The brown lens lets through more of the red and brown colours from the skin which can be useful whereas the green blocks out the red and lets through more green. Some IPL systems let out the majority of there light in the red spectrum so in that case the brown lenses may let too much light through.
